Position: Underground Manager
Reporting to: Operations Manager
Location: Bogoso Prestea, Western Region, Ghana
Job Description
To lead and manage underground mining operations at Bogoso/Prestea in line with the mine’s production strategy, safety standards, and regulatory requirements. The role is critical in restarting and sustaining safe, efficient, and cost-effective underground operations while building team capability and operational discipline.
Responsibilities
- Lead underground mining activities in full compliance with regulatory and safety requirements
- Oversee implementation of mine plans, schedules, and operational procedures
- Manage underground infrastructure, ventilation, dewatering, and ground control systems
- Drive team performance, mentoring supervisors and operators to ensure discipline and continuous improvement
- Ensure efficient resource utilisation while achieving production targets
- Collaborate across functions including Technical Services, Maintenance, HSE, and Surface Operations
Qualifications

A Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or a closely related field

A valid Mine Manager’s Certificate of Competency (preferably issued under Ghana’s LI 2182 or an internationally recognised equivalent)

Minimum of 10 years’ experience in underground mining, including at least 5 years in a senior operational leadership role

Demonstrated expertise in narrow vein, mechanised, or conventional underground mining

In-depth knowledge of underground mining legislation, safety protocols, and industry best practices
