Heath GoldFields | Strengthening Dialogue Through Community Engagement at Bogoso Prestea

At Heath GoldFields Ltd, collaboration with host communities remains a core part of how we operate. The recent Community Mine Consultative Committee (CMCC) meeting held at the Bogoso Prestea Mine brought together a diverse group of stakeholders — mine leadership, local government officials, traditional authorities, and community representatives — for a productive and open discussion on shared priorities.

These consultative sessions form the backbone of Heath GoldFields’ community engagement strategy, ensuring that community perspectives directly inform operational decisions. The dialogue focused on several key themes critical to the sustainable development of the Bogoso Prestea region:

  • Social investment and infrastructure — identifying community priorities in education, healthcare, and local development projects.

  • Employment and skills development — expanding opportunities for local residents and supporting youth training initiatives.

  • Environmental stewardship — reviewing ongoing rehabilitation, water management, and waste control measures to safeguard surrounding ecosystems.

  • Partnership and transparency — strengthening collaboration frameworks between the mine, local authorities, and host communities.

The meeting encouraged constructive dialogue and reaffirmed the collective understanding that responsible mining extends beyond production to include shared value creation for surrounding communities.

“We believe the success of the Bogoso Prestea Mine depends on the strength of our relationships with our host communities,” a Heath GoldFields spokesperson stated. “By maintaining open dialogue and listening to local voices, we are building a foundation for sustainable, inclusive growth.”

Heath GoldFields expressed its appreciation for the active participation of all attendees and reiterated its commitment to continuous engagement through regular CMCC meetings and collaborative forums.

Through these discussions, Heath GoldFields aims to foster mutual trust, accountability, and long-term development, ensuring that the benefits of mining at Bogoso Prestea extend far beyond the mine site — supporting livelihoods, strengthening community institutions, and contributing to Ghana’s broader development agenda.
