Heath Goldfields Limited has appointed Miriam Azu as Head of Legal and Compliance, strengthening corporate governance and legal risk management. With over 15 years’ experience, including roles at Ghana National Gas Company, she brings deep expertise in energy, extractives, and sustainable development leadership.

Heath Goldfields LTD. is pleased to announce the appointment of Miriam Azu as Head, Legal and Compliance, Heath Goldfields LTD. Miriam’s appointment reflects the company’s continued focus on strong Governance, sound Legal Risk Management and Strategic Decision-Making.

Miriam is an accomplished legal professional with over 15 years of experience across the public and private sectors, in various national and international roles, and a proud member of the company’s host community, reflecting our commitment to local talent and inclusion.

She previously served as Head of Legal and Company Secretary at The First Group (Ghana) Ltd, where she led legal and corporate governance functions for the Group and 16 of its affiliate companies operating in sectors including Financial Services, Real Estate, Petroleum, Construction, Debt Recovery and Hospitality.
Also, Miriam was Assistant Legal Manager at Ghana National Gas Company, where she played a key role in contract negotiations and legal support for major national energy infrastructure projects, including the interconnection and construction management works for the Aboadze–Tema Gas Pipeline.

Miriam’s international exposure includes stints at the African Union Commission in Addis Ababa and the Center for International Environmental Law (CIEL) in Washington DC, where she worked on academic and research engagements linked to Environmental Law, Extractive Industries, Sustainable Development and Human Rights.
She holds two LLM degrees from Columbia University (cum laude) and the University of Pretoria and is called to the Ghana Bar.

Additionally, Miriam has published in respected legal journals and is actively involved in charitable professional services, including at the Ghana Bar Association Women’s Forum, where she serves as Publicity Secretary.

Appointment of HSE Manager of Bogoso Prestea Gold Mine

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Samuel Morkeh Arthur (CEnv, MISEP, EnvDipNEBOSH, FGhISEP) as Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Manager for the Bogoso Prestea Mine, effective 15th September 2025.

Samuel is an accomplished Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) leader with 22 years of professional experience, including 14 years in the mining industry. He holds an MSc in Environmental Resources Management and a BSc in Agricultural Engineering, along with multiple professional certifications, including NEBOSH Diplomas and Certificates, ISO Lead Auditor accreditations (ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 50001), Radiation Safety certification, and the Ghana Minerals Commission Certificates of Competency as Senior Officer, Superintendent, and HSE Manager.
